Welcome to my website, A THISTLE IN THE WIND!

I began my career in December 2019, after working as a freelance copywriter during university. Over the years, I’ve successfully transitioned from freelancing to a full-time role in marketing, and then into product and conversion rate optimisation (CRO). I’ve worked with various companies within the food exports, immigration, wealth management, blockchain technology, and travel tech industries.

For the past two years, I’ve been in travel tech, working in the B2B side of the hospitality business. I have extensive experience in full-cycle product design and development, focusing more and more on user experience. Thanks to the industry I’m in, I often find myself working with marketing to improve SEO and site architecture.

If I were to describe my expertise in one sentence, I’d say that I’m in the interesting intersection of product and technical marketing. You can view my professional experience in detail on LinkedIn.

That being said, I’m a writer at heart. These days, while I’m usually coding or managing development projects, I also like to write on the side. Hence, the creation of this blog.

Here, you’ll find topics that interest me, including (but not limited to) my interest in SEO, my frustrations with AI writing tools, writing (both literary and copywriting) and more.

I also have a section linking to my portfolio, usually consisting of former employers, and a section on publications, consisting of short stories that I have written.

My goal for this blog is to act as my portfolio, primarily highlighting my writing skills. Apart from that, I want this blog to be a resource for those who have no idea what marketing is. When I publish blogs on this blog, I think of my 19-year-old self and what would’ve helped me in the beginning of my career.

Now, I don’t have a plan for this website per say. But I guess that’s the thrill of it, isn’t it? We’ll see where this goes, and I hope you join me for this journey!
